Memorial Day 2026 Meeting

Agenda & Discussion

1. Website and Meeting Agenda

 

2. Treasurer's Report

  • Certificate of Deposit (CD) at Flagstar Bank is a 12-month term and matures in May 2026.

    • Checking: $2,166.00

    • CD $5,529 (3.8% Rate)

 

3. Learn-to-Ski / Ski Show

  • County support for the program remains positive.

  • Challenges exist in securing performers due to scheduling conflicts.

  • Revisting possible Dates in 2027 and Ross will have options to present during the fall meeting.

 

4. County Relations

  • Representatives met with county officials on various topics.

  • Discussion was productive, with particular focus on lake-related issues.

 

5. Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition

  • WRISC will survey the lake in July to map the extent of Phragmites and then reach out to property owners to secure permission for treatment.

  • Treatment anticipated for Fall of 2026

    • Funded through an EPA Grant from the MI DNR​

  • Working to secure funding from EGLE to comeplte a Lake Survey with an anticipated start date in 2027

 

6. Weed Removal Program

  • Permitting is being pursued through EAGLE for aquatic weed removal.

  • Homeowner approvals are being collected to allow summer spraying activities.

 

New Business

7. Ski Show 2027

  • Initial discussion regarding planning for the 2027 ski show.

  • New dates to be proposed during the Fall Metting

 

8. Boat Parade

  • Appreciation expressed to Kevin for his support and leadership.

  • A new chairperson is needed to continue organizing the event. Donna Liska has offered to step up.

  • Parade will continue on Saturday, July 4th @ 3:00 PM.

  • Budget approved not to exceed $400 for advertising and ice cream.

 

9. Member Potluck Gathering

  • Proposed social gathering at Camp Shakey for SLA members and friends as a way to meet other stakeholders on the lake.

    • Date: July 25 at 4:00 PM.

    • Cost: Free

  • Event duration estimated at approximately one hour.

 

10. Membership Contact List

  • Create a spreadsheet to review and update member email addresses.

  • Scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, Saturday at 10:00 AM.
